TITLE:
Asterisk CIDR Host Access Rules Security Bypass

SECUNIA ADVISORY ID:
SA38752

VERIFY ADVISORY:
https://secunia.com/advisories/38752/

DESCRIPTION:
A security issue has been reported in Asterisk, which can be
exploited by malicious people to potentially bypass certain security
restrictions.

The security issue is caused due to an error while enforcing host
access restrictions using the CIDR (Classless Inter-Domain Routing)
notation "/0". This can be exploited to potentially bypass "permit="
and "deny=" rules, and access a server from normally restricted
hosts.

The security issue is reported in Asterisk Open Source 1.6.x (all
1.6.0, 1.6.1, and 1.6.2 releases).

SOLUTION:
Update to version 1.6.0.25, 1.6.1.17, or 1.6.2.5.

PROVIDED AND/OR DISCOVERED BY:
Reported by the vendor.
