DESCRIPTION:
A vulnerability has been discovered in CORE Multimedia Suite 2011,
which can be exploited by malicious people to compromise a user's
system.
The vulnerability is caused due to a boundary error in the CORE
Player when processing playlist files and can be exploited to cause a
stack-based buffer overflow via a specially crafted M3U (".m3u")
file.
Successful exploitation allows execution of arbitrary code, but
requires tricking a user into opening a malicious playlist file.
The vulnerability is confirmed in version 2.4. Other versions may
also be affected.
SOLUTION:
Do not open playlist files from untrusted sources.
